Taiwan Senior Dramatist Wang Chi-Mei Donating Costumes to the MUTN |

Professor Wang Chi-Mei, Taiwan senior dramatist donated stages props and more than 200 costumes, which were wore in A-Yueh the Dancer- Taiwanese Legendary Dancer Tsai Jui-Yueh and The Song is Young- Poet Writer Shen Zhi’s Story to the Department of Drama Creation and Application of NUTN (DDCA). These costumes donation also included Professor Wang’s father’s suits and mother’s cheongsams. At 2 PM on Wednesday, January 9 the DDCA held a donation ceremony in the NUTN Rongyu campus and the Director of DDCA Wang Wan-Jung led teachers and students to show these costumes and perform classic pop songs. After donation ceremony, the DDCA held a symposium by inviting Professor Wang to make a speech on Zero & Infinity- Flying with Art Wings. Professor Wang has devoted herself to promoting Taiwan Theater. She has taught in the Department of Chinese Literature of National Cheng Kung University, cooperated with Tainaner Ensemble, whose founder was the NUTN Professor Hsu Rey-Fang to direct A Year Three Seasons, describing the history of Hai An Road and preformed Seeing Smiling Theatre of the Deaf, inviting by Professor of Department of Drama Creation and Application Lin Mei-Chun in the NUTN Ya-Yin Building. About 30 years ago she founded Taipei Pantomime Company to present action drama with Taiwanese sign and oral languages. There were more and more people and organizations paid more attention to Special Art Performance. Furthermore, she endeavored to propagate and research traditional opera and Taiwan contemporary theater edition. She has directed Peking Opera- Hu Xueyan for GuoGuang Opera Company, written Yuju Opera- The Pavilion of Praying to the Moon and published Drama Communication, Modern Drama Volumes and National Anthology-Drama Volume. Recently the DDCA has cooperated with the National Museum of Taiwan History, Tainan Municipal Cultural Center, Yang Kui literature museum, National Museum of Taiwan Literature, the Affiliated School for Students with Hearing Impairments of National University of Tainan (ASSHI of NUTN), neighboring schools and community centers to propagate resource sharing, care for the community and protect local culture and history.
